My Morning Skincare Routine

I used to be very naughty with my skin when I was younger, removing makeup with face wipes, not caring much about SPF, moisturisers, etc. However, when I reached my late 20s I started becoming more aware of the importance of looking after my skin properly and adopted a regime that still changes sometimes, but overall I'm really happy with. Here's what I do for my daily morning routine.

I begin my day washing my face to remove residues of the creams I put on over night. Most of the time I use Organic Surge Daily Care Face Wash (£5.49) but once or twice a week I swap it for Good Things Deep Clean Blackhead Exfoliator (£4.99 - now for £3.33), which is a scrub with micro beads, therefore much more gentle on the skin than the average scrub. Even though it targets younger/teenage skin, I find it works really well on anyone. I pair it with Olay Regenerist Cleansing Brush (£39.99 - now for £26.66) and together they make my skin really smooth, keeping blackheads and spots at bay. This device is a more basic dupe for the Clarisonic (from £125). It uses a rotating system, unlike its rival, that uses sonic vibration, however, I feel it does a pretty good job for a fraction of the price.

Once my face is nice and clean, I then jump to the essential products to keep it protected and hydrated all day long. I start with Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (£13.25 for 200ml), which is a moisturising toner. No astringents (alcohol) or irritants here. Its main focus is to improve the hydration on the skin, working as the 1st moisturising layer. I love this stuff. It's refreshing, smells good and is full of soothing ingredients to prepare your skin for the other steps. After that, I apply Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Facial Serum (£24.99, now £16.66). This gel serum is filled with hyaluronic acid to help boost hydration and plump up the skin. It sinks in quickly and smooths the skin out, making it easier to apply the other products on top. Next I mix a little bit of Clarins Multi Active Day Cream (£42) and Garnier Ambre Solaire SPF50 (£6, now £3) to combine moisturisation and sun protection in one. Remember, these two products are the main key to slow down the signs of aging, so don't ever leave the house without moisturiser and SPF, especially this time of the year.

Lastly, I apply eye cream and lip balm. For my eyes I've been using Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream (£25.50). I got it in a little set (sample size) and I'm really enjoying it. It's creamy, makes my eyes feel soft and my concealer applies really well on top of it. I did notice a slight reduction on my dark circles but nothing too dramatic as I believe mine are a genetic problem and lack of sleep, sometimes. For the lips I've been using Clinique Chubby Stick in Woopin' Watermelon (£17). It's very moisturising and soft on the lips. Some tinted lip balms tend to dry my lips after a while but this one doesn't do it at all. Love it!

I'd love to know what your favourite morning skincare items have been.
