NEW in from Bourjois

Bourjois Rouge Edition & Colorband

I popped into Superdrug to buy a hair oil and ended up in the makeup isle, as we all probably do. :) Bourjois has some new releases so I could not resist and grabbed a few things to try.

1st of all is the new Bourjois Colorband 2 in 1 Eyeshadow & Liner. These are the usual eyeshadow stick that work as both eyeshadow or eyeliner. They are waterproof, smudge proof and are supposed to last 24h. There are 6 colours available but I only picked up the shade 03 Beige Minimalist, because it's a shade I still didn't have in my cream eyeshadow collection. It's a beautiful golden / champagne colour, which reminds me a lot of Mac All that Glitters (one of my all time favourite eyeshadows). I like wearing it as a base or just in my inner corner as a highlighter. It's nice! And it does last all day on me, without creasing. I do wish it was more pigmented, though. I don't know if it's only this particular shade, as it's very light, but I found I had to go over my lid with it quite a few times to get enough colour pay off. But once it's on, it looks great paired with a darker colour on the outter V or crease. Also, I think the darker shades are more pigmented as I swatched them in store and they looked lovely. Am I wowed though? Not really. For budget options, I still prefer Kiko eyeshadow sticks.

The other release I picked up is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque. This is a liquid lipstick with a glossy finish. Comes in 8 beautiful shades. I picked up the colour 02 Rosé on the Rocks, which is a gorgeous pinky nude, the lightest one of the bunch. It's nice but again, I'm not wowed by it. I love the colour, it feels soft on the lips (without being sticky) and smells lovely, like candy. Unfortunately, it's not as opaque as I'd expect from a liquid lipstick and therefore, doesn't last long enough. If I eat, I have to reapply it immediately. Plus it leaves a subtle but weird taste in my mouth. Has anyone else noticed the same? Overall, I'm not impressed.

The last item I got is not a proper product release, but a new shade that was added to the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet line. I decided to finally give in to the hype and try it. I got the colour 10 Don't Pink of It, which is a pink again. The thing with these that stopped me from buying them until now is their horrible chemical smell. I really dislike it. The good news, though, is I stop noticing it right after I apply the product. 'Don't Pink of It' is a gorgeous pink that I think will be perfect for Spring / Summer. The formula is comfortable and I don't find it drying at all, which is great for a matte lipstick. It's also pretty long lasting. I'd say I get about 6-8h wear (through eating and drinking) before feeling the need to reapply. Pretty incredible!

Boots has a 3 for 2 promotion on all makeup at the moment, so if you can get past the weird smell of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets, I'd definitely recommend giving them a try. I believe they've got around 3 new shades for this season and they all look lovely. If you're into cream eyeshadows, it might be worth trying the Colorband Eyeshadow & Liner Sticks but I would personally not bother with the new Aqua Laque, as there's nothing special or different about them. But that's just my opinion. :)
