Beauty Haul | High End & Drugstore

Beauty Haul | High End & Drugstore

Hi everyone! Life has been a bit busier than usual lately but of course I still manage to find some spare time for a bit of shopping! haha I don't want to babble too much, so will jump straight to describing everything I've picked up in the past month, with a little "first impressions" on each product.

Garnier, Make Up For Ever, Maybelline, Roger & Gallet

Garnier SkinActive Oil Infused Micellar Cleansing Water

If you like micellar waters, then you'll love this one! It's essentially a mix of 3/4 micellar water and 1/4 oil. You have to shake it well, to mix both layers and then use a cotton pad to remove the makeup. It smells amazing, removes makeup really well, doesn't sting my eyes and feels gentle on the skin, leaving it feeling very soft and hydrated. It's definitely become my go to cleanser lately and I don't think I'll buy any other micellar water from now on.

Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Kalahari

I've heard so much rave about Nars eyeshadows and how incredible they are so I decided to finally give into the hype. Kalahari is a beautiful neutral duo, with a shimmering rosy bronze and shimmering taupe plum (as described by Nars). These shades have great pigmentation and next to no fall out. I think they're ideal for brown eyes but will also suit everyone. Whether you pair both eyeshadows for a smokey eye or wear them on their own, as a quick wash of colour, this is a fantastic and very travel friendly option. I'm obsessed with the bronze shade (left pan) on top of Mac Groundwork paint pot. So pretty!!!

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencils

I'm a huge eye pencil fan but struggle to find one that will last a long time (especially in my waterline) and won't smudge. Well, lucky for me, I can stop searching. These Aqua XL eye pencils are simply incredible. They are super pigmented and long lasting. I can have it on for about 8-10h a day without looking like a racoon. Big thumbs up! I initially picked up two neutral, everyday shades (M-60 matte brown & I-36 shimmery khaki), but will definitely pick up some brighter colours for Summer. There's plenty of option to choose from the 20 shades available.

Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara

When I purchased the eye pencils, I also got a small sample of this NEW mascara. It's great for volume and also a bit of length. Does not crumble or smudge and although it's not waterproof, it holds the curl pretty well. It's my new favourite and I'm so thankful I got a full size at the Debenhams SS16 Beauty Press Show.

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipstick Committed

theBalm is a brand I haven't tried much from but now that it's available at Debenhams, I thought I no longer have an excuse. Matte lip products are highly on trend and Meet Matt(e) Hughes is definitely one to try. Great pigmentation, truly matte and very comfortable on the lips. Did I also mention it smells minty and it's not drying at all? I can't think of anything bad to say. I did expect it to endure eating and drinking a bit better than it does, but overall, it's a great lip product and I'm in love with the shade I have, Committed (a gorgeous mauve / pinky nude).

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Another hyped up matte liquid lipstick. I got the shade Athen, which is a pretty peachy nude. The formula is very similar to the one from theBalm and I really like it but again, not as long lasting after food and drink as I hoped. I have to wear a nude lipliner underneath it to make it last better but bear in mind, the shade is very light. I'm sure the darker ones will be more long lasting. Nonetheless it's a lovely matte product and the colour is very girly and perfect for Spring and Summer.

Rimmel Super Gel Kit - Soul Session

Rimmel Super Gel Kit Soul Session

This is a NEW product from Rimmel and although I've only had it on my nails once, I really like it. The colour I picked up is a beautiful blush nude. The formula is smooth and the finish is glossy, as you'd expect from a traditional gel nail polish. The only downside is it's not as long lasting as I expected. It took about 5-6 days before it started chipping, which is better than most nail polishes on me, but still far from what it should be for a gel polish. I'll continue putting it to the test and will report back on Twitter (@speakinbeautyuk) and/or Instagram (@speakingbeautyuk).

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer

This is a repurchase. Love the sponge applicator and the formula, although I wish it was a tad bit more hydrating. It's long lasting, nicely pigmented and it's perfect paired with my Clarins Instant Concealer.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Shower Cream

I really enjoy how creamy and beautifully scented this shower product is, BUT I have to say I expected more. The scent doesn't seem to linger long enough. And although I like it, I just think I can find something better for less, such as the Rituals Shower Oil, which leaves my skin ultra soft and also smells amazing.
