Rimmel has recently come out with some new shades for Summer in their usual Kate Moss Lasting Finish collection and also released a new edition of lipsticks and nail polishes called Rimmel Kate Nude Collection.
Boots has a promotion to buy 1 and get the 2nd item for half price on selected Rimmel products so I decided to try one lipstick shade from each line. First one I picked up was the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick - Nude Collection #45, which is a mauve / pink nude. My lips but better kind of colour. The packaging is the same as with all the other Kate lipsticks but in a nude colour, which I have to say I wasn't a big fan of. They only have 5 shades available. Even though the selection seems limited, I'd say there is a shade for every skin tone. Apart from #45, the only other shade that stood out to me was #43. That one is more of a true nude. But I passed on it because it's pretty identical to Rimmel Moisture Renew in Nude Delight, which I already have.
Do I like this new collection? Erm... I think it's just ok. I know everyone seems to be raving about these new lipsticks but I didn't think they were anything special. Although I really like that the formula is very soft and hydrating on the lips, I found the lipstick to be slightly sheer. And because the lipstick is creamy, it doesn't last that well either. As soon as you eat or drink, you have to reapply. I was also a bit disappointed that none of the shades are unique. As I mentioned, I already have a Rimmel lipstick that looks identical to one of the shades released in the collection so I have a feeling I will probably just pass it on to my sister or a friend.

The other lipstick I bought, however, was a big winner. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick #38 is a gorgeous peach nude. Beautiful colour for Summer. The formula of these lipsticks is creamy but more on the satin side so it has great pigmentation and pretty good longevity too. I'd say these leave a very subtle stain behind even after you eat or drink, fading gradually. I don't feel I need to reapply that often and I just need one swipe to achieve a good look. The scent on both lipsticks is the same, the traditional vanilla scent, characteristic of all Rimmel products. Love this one and highly recommend picking it up.
