Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

After being initially released only in the US, a few months ago, Revlon Colorstay Moisture Lip Stain finally hit the UK shelves. I couldn't resist and had to pick one up to see what the hype was all about.

Just looking at them, it's pretty obvious that they are very similar to the popular YSL Glossy Stains and also remind me of the L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain. In my opinion, these are more comfortable on the lips and the staying power is amazing, lasting a good few hours. Formula is soft, light and moisturising. As we all know, lip stains can be very drying on the lips, but this one wasn't drying at all. The packaging is simple but nice, with the usual doe foot applicator. I found the product to be a bit streaky, to start with, but as you apply more and rub your lips together, it all starts looking nice and even. It has a very subtle and sweet smell, that I can barely notice, therefore it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

My main disappointment with lip stains, in general, is that most of the time, the colour changes after application. I got the shade LA Exclusive, which is a nice girly pink in the packaging. However, as soon as I apply it to my lips, it starts changing more into a bright reddish pink, which is a colour I don't think suits me very well. Unfortunately, I will probably have to pass it on to my sister or a friend.

So, do I agree with the hype? Erm... let's say this lip stain is not for me, mainly due to the colour range. But overall, I think it's a good product. If you're into bright / deep shades, then I think it's worth giving it a try. You can find a 2 for £10 promotion on all Revlon lip, nail and mascara products in Boots. ;-)

  1. I've been looking for a nice YSI dupe! These seem pretty similar but I have to admit, lip products that change colour really annoy me! X

    1. It annoys me too. But might be just something to do with the colour of my lips. I don't know. It's a good product overall, though. If you like lip stains, might be worth giving it a try. Superdrug has them on sale now for just £5.99. :) x
