Makeup Revolution First Impressions

There's been a lot of hype about Makeup Revolution, so naturally I wanted to test some of their products. This is a new Superdrug brand, with very affordable prices and a promise of high quality.

For now, I picked up only 3 face products: the Baked Bronzer in Golden Days (£4), the Baked Blush in Loved The Best (£2.50) and the Highlighter in Peach Lights (£3).

It's very difficult to choose a favourite out of the bunch, but I'll start with the blushIt may look a bit dark in the pan, but when applied it's just a lovely rosy shade. I'm NW20 in Mac and it looks great on me. If you are pale, just make sure to apply it light handed. The good thing about it is that it's very versatile. It can work for pale and darker skin, depending on how much you apply.

The bronzer is another 'hit'. Such a gorgeous colour with just a little sheen, nothing over the top. Looks really pretty on!

Finally, the highlighter. Just take a moment to appreciate the look of it. It's so, so pretty! It reminds me a lot of the Mac Extra Dimension limited edition highlighters. It's sort of a peachy colour (hence the name) with finely milled glitter. But don't be put off by the word 'glitter', as this highlighter is really subtle and just adds an elegant glow to the cheeks. I personally don't like too much shine on my face, so it was perfect for me.

From L to R: Blush Loved The Best, Bronzer Golden Days & Highlighter Peach Lights
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. The pigmentation is great and the packaging is really sturdy. It looks and feels so much more expensive than it actually is. I wouldn't say they are quite as good as high end products, but I think for the price, they are amazing! They will definitely become part of my daily routine now and I can't wait to try more things from the brand.

Right now, the best way to get your hands on Makeup Revolution's products is online at the Superdrug website (they are offering free order & collect service on all purchases or free home delivery on orders over £10). But get excited, as Superdrug will be adding more Makeup Revolution stands to their stores in the next couple of months. :)

Have you tried anything from the brand? Which products did you like the most? X

  1. These drugstore brands just show that you don't have to go high-end to get good quality. I have drawers full of Chanel, Dior, Lancome, YSL and yet, recently, I have been incredibly impressed by certain products by Bourjois, Maybelline, L'Oreal, NYX (excellent budget products) and ELF. Thanks for bringing these to our attention. I feel another Superdrug haul coming on!

    1. I totally agree, Cathy! I think drugstore brands are really upping their game now. I also love Bourjois, L'Oreal, Soap & Glory, NYX and many others. Most of these brands are part of the same companies like Estee Lauder, Chanel, YSL, etc, which would explain the great quality. Looking forward to seeing your haul. :) xx

  4. I haven't tried anything yet, but I love the look of that blush! You don't really get many baked blushers in the drugstore, and it's such a lovely colour :) xx

    1. I can understand that. Before placing my order online I went to check their stand in London Marble Arch. They didn't have what I wanted there, but I could check the quality of their products, which gave me more confidence to buy online. Soon they'll be available in more shops around the UK. :) X
